Tigers Fall to the Hitmen 5-2

Nov 27, 2022 | 9:39 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat Tigers fell to the Calgary Hitmen 5-2 at home, Saturday night.

The Tabbies were the team to open up the scoring in the game, thanks to the partial breakaway from Cayden Lindstrom that he found a way to capitalize on.

That would stand as the only goal of the first period, but it would be all Hitmen when the middle frame got underway.

It would be a 3 goal period for Calgary with the first coming only 2:23 in, off the stick of Zac Funk. The next was potted by Sean Tschigerl, and the third from David Adaszynski.

Headed 3-1 into the final period the Tigers needed to find an answer, but couldn’t convert before Riley Fiddler-Schultz made the lead 4-1 for the Hitmen.

Shane Smith would get Medicine Hat back within 2 goals late in the third, but that goal was answered just over 30 seconds later by Calgary defenceman Carter Yakemchuk.

Third star of the game went to Tigers goaltender, Evan may who stopped 27 of the 32 shots he faced.

Second star went to Calgary goaltender, Ethan Buenaventura who stopped 25 of the 27 shots put on him.

The first star honour went to Calgary forward, Fiddler-Schultz who had 3 points in the Saturday night matchup.

Following the loss the Tigers are now 0-2 against the Hitmen this year, with 4 more matchups between the squads still to come this season.

The Tabbies now sit 9th in the eastern conference, only a single point out of a playoff spot that the Swift Current Broncos currently hold.

Medicine Hat will be back in action Sunday against the Prince Albert Raiders, from Co-Op Place. If not able to make it out, you can hear all the action live on Wild 94.5 with voice of the Tigers Gino De Paoli.
