SWIFT CURRENT, SK – Swift Current Broncos’ forward Caleb Wyrostok has started a fundraiser in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.

Wyrostok was born and raised in Medicine Hat, and cancer has touched many in his life including his mother, aunt, long-time minor hockey coach and late grandfather.

Those experiences pushed Wyrostok to get in touch with the Canadian Cancer Society for this fundraiser.

Wyrostok is asking people to pledge $20 per goal, and $15 per assist that he gets throughout the 2022-23 season.

He had an initial goal of raising $2,500 throughout the entire season, but has already raised more than $3,600 and has had increased his goal to $5,000.

Wyrostok says he was surprised by how quickly the fundraiser gained traction but hopes to have to raise the goal once again.

“Just seeing that now and kind of looking back on it kind of I guess it built off itself,” he says. “I’m sure it kind of spread by word of mouth, and social media and stuff like that obviously played a huge part in that so it’s great to see. I hope we can reach the $5000 goal here again soon, and then I guess bump it up again and keep going.”

He adds he feels the fundraiser has contributed to his solid start to his season, in which he has six goals and three assists in 13 games.
