4.1 magnitude earthquake recorded near Peace River

On Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at 12:22 a.m., Earthquakes Canada reported seismic activity in northern Alberta.

The magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 4.1 between Peace River and Reno, or 165 kilometres north east of Grande Prairie.

There are no reports of damage from the earthquake and none are expected. There has only been one report of a person in the area that felt the activity, with light shaking.

The last recorded seismic activity in the Peace region was south of Grande Prairie in February 2022.

On February 5, 2022, an earthquake was recorded at a magnitude of 4.0 near Musreau Lake. Another 4.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded three days later on February 8 in the same area.
