Premier to give TV address

Premier Danielle Smith will deliver a televised address tonight to Albertans.

The premier’s address will air at 6:30 p.m. and can be seen live on CHAT News and can be watched below shortly after it starts.

Monday on Twitter, Mount Royal University political scientist Duane Bratt says the expectation is Smith’s address will cover a package of affordability policies: gas tax cut, utilities rebate, and likely direct cheques to Albertans. Online speculation lists health care and federal overreach as other potential topics.

Smith became leader of the United Conservative Party in October and won a byelection in Brooks-Medicine Hat on Nov. 8.
