MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Hockey Hounds Tournament in Medicine Hat is an annual showcase of the best U15 talent in the west.

The puck dropped on the 49th edition on Thursday, with the championship game set for Sunday at 12:30 p.m.

Hockey Hounds has an extensive list of former and current NHL players like Jarome Iginla, Brent Seabrook and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins who have played in the tournament.

Hockey Hounds treasurer Dale Fuller says he and the other members of the organization take great pride in the prestigious event they have been able to create over its 49 active years.

“There’s a lot of pride from the members, as far as putting the tournament on and having the players come through. It’s just, it’s unbelievable when you think about the quality of players. Even looking at our trophies and that you can see some of the players that played here like Rob and Scott Niedermayer, these guys were high-end NHL players.”

In addition to the games, an individual awards ceremony will held at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

All games are taking place at the Hockey Hounds Rec Centre, Kinplex Arena and the Big Marble Go Centre. You can attend individual games, or there is a full weekend pass for those who want to experience it all.

Full tournament details are available on the Hockey Hounds website.
