Calgary city council wants Coun. Sean Chu removed from position

Calgary’s city council has stripped one of its members of his deputy mayor duties and is asking the province to remove the councillor from his position.

Coun. Sean Chu was the subject of a council meeting yesterday.

Mayor Jyoti Gondek says Chu was scheduled to fill in as mayor and chair a meeting that includes a declaration of remembrance and action on violence against women.

Gondek says it would have been inappropriate for Chu to attend.
