Alert Ready to conduct emergency notice test on Wednesday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Albertans will receive an emergency notice this week. However, it is just a test.

On Wednesday, most provinces and territories will hold a test of Alert Ready, Canada’s national public alerting system.

Residents will receive one test message from their respective provincial or territorial emergency management organization over television, radio, and compatible LTE wireless devices.

The test is scheduled to take place at 1:55 p.m. local time in Alberta.

The test will not be conducted in Prince Edward Island.

The test message will simulate an emergency alert, will indicate that it is a test and does not require any action from the public.
