MEDICINE HAT — As the Royal Canadian Legion Number 6 approaches it’s centennial year in Redcliff, the building is in need of some repairs.

A Go-Fund-Me page has been set up and a retired military member is encouraging people to donate with a generous offer.

Frankie Harth promises to match every contribution, up to $20 thousand, from the estate of her late husband Gordon, who was also a retired military member.

Simone Stern is the facilities manager at the Redcliff Legion.

Stern says there’s things their building needs and hopes people will contribute.

“We want to look at fixing our roof and possibly getting a couple of new dishwashers or getting them fixed or refurbished,” says Stern.

Some new items in the kitchen area to facilitate better service and new items on the menu are also on the list.

The Save Our Legion Go-Fund-Me campaign started last Friday and will remain active at least until the end of this year.

Stern hopes people in the area will step up to make the most of the matching contributions from the Harth estate.

The Save Our Legion fund raiser is separate from the annual Poppy fund campaign.
