LETHBRIDGE, AB – Canadians will gain an extra hour to sleep this weekend.

Daylight Savings Time comes to an end at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2022.

In anticipation of the time change, residents are encouraged to set all of their clocks back by one hour.

While you are running around the house anyways, City of Lethbridge Fire & Emergency Services says it is also a good time to check your home’s smoke detectors.

They say the expiry date on detectors should be reviewed annually and that putting fresh batteries in them will ensure they are working properly.

If your smoke detector is more than 10 years old, the city says it will need to be replaced.

“Having a working smoke alarm is the best way to protect your family in the case of a fire,” reads a media release from the City of Lethbridge.

More information on smoke alarms can be found on the Canadian Safety Council website.
