Rattlers show strong at golf national championships

DURHAM, ON – Two Medicine Hat College Rattlers finished in the top 10 at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Golf National Championship in Ontario this week.

Colby Friedrich’s 69 tied for the low round of the day and moved up him up to fifth place overall. His 13-over total score was nine shots back of the winner, Matthew Bremer of the Humber Hawks.

Chase Broderson tied for eighth at 17-over with Rattlers’ teammate Jaydan Dudas tied for 12th at 19-over.

Rounding out the Rattler contingent, Matt Taylor ended the week in 34th at 49-over and Jonathan Bartman tied for 49th at a total score of 91-over.

As a team, the Rattlers placed fourth at 91-over.

Libby Bourassa was the only Rattler in the women’s championship. She placed 14th with a total score of 83-over. Her ACAC team was fifth at 142 over.

Back in Medicine Hat, the Rattlers basketball teams are hosting their home openers tonight, welcoming the SAIT Trojans to the Snake Pit.

The women’s game tips off at 6 p.m. as they look to avenge a 72-52 season-opening loss to the Trojans last weekend in Calgary.

The men’s game follows at 8 p.m. They’ll look for a second win over SAIT after defeating them 89-86 last week.

On Saturday, the Rattlers host SAIT in volleyball action. It’s a 6 p.m. start for the women’s game and 8 p.m. for the men’s. They play at SAIT tonight.

The Rattlers soccer teams wrap their regular seasons on Saturday in Calgary against the Ambrose Lions.
