CYPRESS COUNTY, AB – The Dunmore Fire Station hosted an Open House Saturday accompanied by Search and Rescue, HALO Air Ambulance and other industry partners.

The event comes on the tail end of fire prevention week, and is the first open house the station has held to spread awareness in the community.

During the Open House people were able to learn about the different areas of emergency services available, including much more than just fire prevention. Many emergency vehicles were parked at the station like the HALO helicopter for all to step inside, and even give the sirens a test.

County Fire Chief Jason Linton says to hold an event like the Open House is important to show the community exactly what the Fire Department provides.

“It reassures what the Fire Department does for their community, and really shows that we do more than just fight fires, fire fighting is probably the least amount of what we do. (we do) medical first response, complex rescues, surface water rescues and more.”

Chief Linton was happy with the amount of people that showed at the event saying “there has been all kinds of different questions about employment, public information and just really showing what Cypress County Fire does for our community.”
