City set to reopen Moose Recreation Centre

Oct 14, 2022 | 4:27 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Moose Recreation Centre was closed indefinitely nearly two years ago amid a budget crunch brought on by plummeting commodity prices and a global pandemic

On Monday it will reopen to the public.

“The rink required some pretty substantial renovations in order to safely reopen to the public,” said James Will, director of the parks & recreation department. “The concrete slab has been replaced and the new rink boards are now in. We can’t wait to have our local skaters take to the ice once more.”

The City of Medicine Hat says staff will be in contact with recreation associations who can expect adjustments to their November schedules. Ice time is available to rent between Monday and the end of October by calling 403-502-8745 or visiting medicinehat.ca/facilitybooking.

There are also opportunities to go public skating at the Moose after Monday. View the skating schedule at medicinehat.ca/skating.

One of the first decisions made by the new city council elected in October 2021 was to support the funding needed to reopen the Moose to the public.
