Chronic Pain Self-Management workshops in Brooks
BROOKS, AB – Another session of Alberta Health Services’ Better Choices, Better Health chronic pain self-management workshops begins next week in Brooks.
The free six-week program is suitable for adults 18 and over and their family members or caregivers, providing opportunities to those with chronic pain to learn how to take control of their health and improve their quality of life. Participants will learn techniques to control pain, tips for healthy eating and becoming more active, strategies for talking with their health-care team, ways to deal with difficult emotions, options for making everyday tasks easier, and more.
Each workshop is two and a half hours long and led by AHS health-care staff and volunteer leaders. Participants can meet others who share similar health experiences in a supportive and interactive setting.
Chronic Pain Self-Management workshops will run from 9:30 a.m. to noon weekly on Wednesdays, Oct. 19 to Nov. 23, at the Brooks Hospital, Long Term Care Meeting Room.
