Tigers fall 5-2 in Seattle
Medicine Hat Tigers forward Hunter St. Martin scored his first career WHL goal Tuesday night in Seattle in a 5-2 loss against the Thunderbirds.
The Thunderbirds struck first when Kyle Crnkovic put a powerplay goal past Beckett Langkow before St. Martin’s tied the score with a shorthanded marker fewer than two minutes later. The teams stayed square until midway through the second frame when Gracyn Sawchyn tallied to give the Thunderbirds a lead they would not relinquish.
After the Thunderbirds extended their lead on a goal by Reid Schaefer, the Tigers struck back 10 seconds later when Reid Andresen notched his second of the season to pull the Tigers within one. Seattle’s Gabe Ludwig put the lead back to two just 23 seconds later before an empty-netter by Schaefer closed out the scoring.
Langkow made 26 saves in the loss.
