UCP Leader Danielle Smith to seek election in Brooks-Medicine Hat

MEDICINE HAT, AB — On a sunny fall day atop Jeffries Park overlooking Medicine Hat, UCP Leader and Premier Designate Danielle Smith announced she will seek election in the Brooks-Medicine Hat constituency.

“Here we are starting another campaign after another one just ended,” Smith stated smiling.

Smith announced her intention to run alongside Michaela Frey, who officially resigned as MLA for the riding on Friday.

Smith says the main reason she is so committed to running in rural Alberta is that she believes the rural areas “didn’t feel like they had the strongest voice at the table during the last years of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Smith hopes her decision to run in the riding “sends a signal their (rural) voice will be heard and it will be prominent.”

Smith listed the twinning of Highway 3 and the issue of homelessness as two top priorities for her in this riding.
