New prize draw added to Lotto 6/49

People in Medicine Hat and area who regularly play Lotto 6-49, will see some major changes that take effect with this Wednesday’s draw.

Tickets for 6/49 will still cost $3, but players will now have a chance for two multimillion-dollar prizes.

The main jackpot will be awarded to the winner of the “classic draw,” where you select your numbers or use the quick pick option. That prize will now be fixed at $5 million.

Meanwhile, the guaranteed $1-million prize will become the “gold ball draw.”

Each ticket will have a 10-digit number, and if you win, a separate draw using 29 white balls, and one gold ball, will determine the prize.

If the winner gets a white ball, they will receive $1 million. The gold ball is worth $10 million, but that could climb. Each time a white ball is selected, it is removed from the draw, and $2 million is added to the value of the gold ball, which could go as high as $68 million.
