MEDICINE HAT, AB — A man described as having a big vision for downtown Medicine Hat is the new owner of a trio of buildings in the heart of the city.

Justin Taupert with the Atkinson team at EXP Realty worked with Tim Hurlbut in acquiring the properties, which are at the corner of Second Street and Sixth Avenue SE.

They became available with the passing last year of long-time owner Floyd Ronan.

Hurlbut has plans for extensive renovations, with commercial development on the ground level and updating residential space on the second floor, returning the building to its former glory.

Taupert says Hurlbut is from Redcliff and wants to be part of the renaissance in the city core.

“I know he really appreciates downtown, he’s got a big love for downtown and the improvements that have happened there,” says Taupert.

According to Taupert, Hurlbut noticed an opportunity and wanted to do his part to contribute to what Medicine Hat has going on.

The project is in the planning stage now. Taupert says it’s a fairly big project and will be done over a period of time.

Hurlbut has a team of experts with experience in similar projects in different communities and work should begin later this year.
