No decision on bail for Tamara Lich; matter back in court Tuesday

Tamara Lich will be back in an Ottawa courtroom on Tuesday.

Following a day-long bail-review hearing on Monday, Justice Andrew Goodman adjourned until tomorrow when he is to rule on alleged errors of law.

She was initially arrested in Ottawa in February and granted bail a few weeks later. Among her conditions was that she not communicate with other organizers of the “Freedom Convoy.” At a gala in May to celebrate her role in the so-called “Freedom Convoy” and subsequent occupation of downtown Ottawa, Lich was photographed with Tom Marazzo, a fellow organizer of the convoy and occupation.

That led to her being re-arrested in Medicine Hat last month on a Canada-wide warrant requested by the Ottawa Police Service.

On July 8, Justice of the Peace Paul Harris ruled her actions at the gala to be a breach of her bail conditions and that she remain in custody while awaiting trial.

Lich’s lawyer Lawrence Greenspon says his client is accused of “technical and minor breach of conditions” at the gala.

Lich is charged with mischief, obstructing police, counselling others to commit mischief and intimidation for her action in Ottawa in January and February of this year.
