MEDICINE HAT, AB – Before Stampede officially kicks off on Wednesday the grandstand will be rocking on Monday evening.
The Stampede Summer Jam is back and celebrating its 10th anniversary.
Trent Roset and Ryan Massini of Mahoney return as hosts for the pre-Stampede party.
“We are over the moon this year. We put together as big a shows as possible and it’s just nice to celebrate the regular connection between local community and local bands, local talent,” says Roset.
He says Mahoney relishes this chance to perform and interact with and be inspired by the other local talent since most of the year they’re gigging at the same times.
The Mahoney and Friends collaboration will keep your toes tapping and the music flowing in between mini sets by the other bands.
He says they try to cover all the musical bases when crafting the lineup and the show.
“We’ve got Willow Creek coming his year which is a great old-school country band. then we’ve got Reese Klaiber which is kind of new school country and then we’re going all the way the Three Hole Punch, Broad Band Audrey 3,” Roset lists. “So we cover all these bands all the way across the spectrum along with Mahoney and Friends the whole time and I think what we can do is everyone in the audience not only gets to enjoy sounds and styles of music that they haven’t you know always connected with but can connect with here. And then they also hear their favourites, right. They hear their favourite country band or they hear their favourite pop or rock or whatever.”
Roset says 10 years of Summer Jam is just the start.
“I want to be up on that stage when I’m a 60-year-old man.”
The preshow starts at 6:30 with Derrick followed by the main show at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance or at the gate.
