Woman dies after incident at Ponoka Stampede Grounds

PONOKA, AB – The RCMP has confirmed a death at the Ponoka Stampede Grounds in Alberta.

On Sunday, June 26, 2022 at around 7:09 p.m., Ponoka Mounties were sent to the site to assist Emergency Medical Services (EMS) with an injured woman.

On Monday, the RCMP confirmed that the 30-year-old woman was thrown off her horse and then trampled by other horses. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries.

RCMP stated, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of the deceased.”
