RCMP warn of increased commercial property crime and theft

Jun 23, 2022 | 8:48 PM

CYPRESS COUNTY, AB – Business owners in Redcliff and Bow Island are being asked to stay alert following an increase in property crime in Cypress and Forty Mile counties.

RCMP say both Redcliff and Bow Island detachments have seen an increase in reports of overnight break and enters, and subsequent theft of vehicles, fuel and tools from commercial business sites.

Since June 18, police say they have had four reports of vehicle thefts. Three of the four stolen vehicles have been recovered. However, police say no arrests have been made.

Additional resources are being used, according to the RCMP and police are working to find the individuals responsible.

The public is asked to report any criminal or suspicious activity right away as they say the reports help them with where to look, who to look for, and where to patrol.

Police also ask the public to pay attention to unfamiliar vehicles or people in rural commercial areas, especially at night.

If you have any information about these crimes or those responsible please call the Redcliff RCMP non-emergency line at 403-548-2222 or the Bow Island RCMP non-emergency line at 403-545-2100. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at P3Tips.com or by using the “P3 Tips” app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
