MEDICINE HAT, AB – If you looked at the sky over Medicine Hat on Thursday evening you could see it was filled with more than a dozen hot air balloons.

Pilots took flight on the first night of the Rise Up Hot Air Balloon Festival and people took in the sight from locations around the city.

The festival, at Echo Dale Regional Park, is being led by Willy and Cindy Taillon of Coulee Balloon and Our Collective Journey.

Ryan Oscar of Our Collective Journey joined us to talk about the first flight and what the rest of the weekend holds.
