Seedy Saturday for gardeners of all experience levels

May 20, 2022 | 9:15 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Community Food Connections Association and Root Cellar Food & Wellness Hub are ready for the annual Seedy Saturday event.

According to the Facebook event, Seedy Saturday is about more than just seed swapping seeds, it’s about gardeners of all experience levels coming together to share ideas, learn and grow.

The free event takes place from 1-3 p.m. at the Community Garden at the Root Cellar. Along with the seed swap you can also help plant out the garden, get your pruners sharpened and more.

There will also be presentations on variety of topics from Brendan & Tabitha Cairns of Lilac Cottage, Amber from Coderre Flower Farm and information on xeriscaping from Cathy Linowski.

For anyone who doesn’t make it Saturday there is now a permanent seed exchange available for gardeners to share their seeds all year at the Medicine Hat Public Library.

Access the gardens behind the Root Cellar through the gate at the back of the property that opens onto Fifth Street SE. There is free street parking.

Community Food Connections Association is still looking for a few volunteers! If interested, call Genevieve at 403-878-2578 or email cfcagarden@gmail.com.
