MEDICINE HAT, AB — Canada Day will once again be celebrated on July 1 at the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede grounds.

Organizers have a full day of activities planned to celebrate Canada’s 155th birthday.

That includes free hot dogs for children 12 and under to start the day in Pioneer Village at noon.

Five local bands will be performing from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the infield, as well as free stage activities and the opportunity for community organizations to promote themselves.

Both the Medicine Hat fire and police services have been asked to have vehicles on display, and it’s hoped HALO Air Ambulance will also be there.

Canada Day committee chair Darlene Keeler is excited by the opportunity to have Canada Day back at the Stampede Grounds.

“We love having it at the grounds, we’ve had nothing but compliments from last year on having it at the grounds, it makes it so much easier for parking and for everybody to get there,” says Keeler.

As always, Canada Day will wrap up with a fireworks display at 11 p.m.
