Junior drag racing open house on Saturday

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The first racing weekend at the Medicine Hat Drag Strip may be a month away but the local association wants to see a lot of youth at the strip tomorrow.
The group is hosting an open house to promote its junior programs on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The programs are for boys and girls five to 18 years old.
“It has such a great family atmosphere and teaches kids traditional sportsmanship, practical mechanical and engineering skills all while in an exciting, fun environment,” Carleen Schaan, junior drag racing director, says in an email. “Our sons have raced for nine years and it is our passion that we want to share with other families in the community.”
The first racing weekend at the strip is May 27-29.
