City gas, electricity rates down in April

The floating electricity and natural gas rates for City of Medicine Hat customers are dropping slightly this month.

Electricity customers on the floating rate will pay 10.628 cents per kilowatt-hour this month, down from 10.723 cents per kilowatt-hour in March.

The fixed-rate offered by the city is 8 cents per kilowatt-hour for 2022.

The floating natural gas rate has been set at $4.594 per gigajoule, down from $4.939 in March.

The fixed-rate for 2022 is $4.35 per GJ, as of Jan. 1.

The monthly rates are determined based on the average set by other providers in the province.

The natural gas price is in the middle of the $3.907 set by Apex (formerly AltaGas) and the $5.281 set by Direct Energy.

The electricity price falls between the high of 10.818 cents set by Epcor (Edmonton) and the 10.316 cents set by Enmax.
