Smash repeat as provincial champions

MEDICINE HAT, AB – After losing in overtime to Calgary’s FSU in the first game of provincials, the Medicine Hat Smash had the ultimate redemption in the finals.

The Smash won gold at Ringette Alberta’s Open B Provincials, dropping FSU 6-4 in the championship game.

Hosting provincials at the Kinplex 2 arena, the Smash fell 7-6 to FSU in their first game of the weekend. On Saturday, the host team defeated Calgary’s Avalanche 5-3.

Already guaranteed a spot in Sunday’s semi-finals, Smash finished round-robin play by dominating the St. Albert Stealth 7-2 to claim second in pool B.

After beating the Calgary Blaze twice during the regular season, Smash did it again in the semi-final game, winning 8-4.
