Male charged following liquor store robbery
MEDICINE HAT, AB – One male is facing multiple charges after police spotted a robbery in progress while searching for that same male following a complaint of uttering threats.
Police received the complaint around 8 p.m. Sunday and began additional patrols in the area looking for the suspect. One officer then saw the robbery taking place at a liquor store in Northwest Crescent Heights.
Police were ready to respond but stayed out of sight until the male suspect exited the liquor store. Once outside, the male was taken into custody and found to be in possession of the stolen cash from the store as well as a hunting knife.
The 21-year-old male, who police say can’t be identified at this time, is awaiting a bail hearing, facing charges of robbery and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, as well as uttering threats.
