Moe: Saskatchewan not considering provincial gas tax cut
REGINA – Premier Scott Moe says his Saskatchewan Party government will not follow Alberta’s lead by temporarily reducing a provincial tax on gasoline.
Moe says nothing has been removed from the table, but a tax cut is not under consideration.
He says Alberta is free to do what it needs to do, but Saskatchewan is looking at ways to reduce the cost of living for residents that is not solely through the price of commodities.
Gasoline prices have been steadily rising as global sanctions on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine affect Russia’s ability to export crude oil.
