MEDICINE HAT, AB– The Root Cellar Food and Wellness Hub is now on the hunt for a new executive director.

In a post on Facebook, the organization announced the resignation of Margo Dick who stepped into the role after serving five years as operations manager.

Dick became Executive Director after the previous executive director, Celina Symmonds announced she would be leaving last August.

In a statement, The Root Cellar Food and Wellness Hub said Melissa Mullis will assume the role as Interim Executive Director.

“Melissa has been with the organization for five years and has filled many roles including her current position as Marketing and Events Manager. Melissa’s passion and dedication to the organization will provide stability, and ensure a smooth transition for staff and volunteers,” said Warren Stark Board president.

The Board of Directors has started the recruitment process for a permanent replacement, and the Root Cellar Food and Wellness Centre said more information will be made public when it becomes available.

The Root Cellar Food and Wellness Centre isn’t the only organization to see an executive director left. Early this morning, Sandra Milne, the executive director of the Canadian Mental Health Association, Southeast region announced her retirement. Milne had been with the CMHA since early 2021.

” I will always support CMHA and be an advocate for mental health in our community. I wish the organization so much continued success as they raise the profile and work to increase mental wellness in our region,” Milne said.
