MEDICINE HAT, AB–A local Medicine Hat organization is raising money to support pets in Ukraine.

The Animal Food Bank has launched a new line of merchandise.

Organizers say 10 per cent of all sales will go to support animal rescue groups in Ukraine.

T-shirts and hoodies with the words “Be Kind” are available, signifying the power of kindness during these dark times.

Founder Nicole Frey said her group is typically tasked with organizing support for pets involved in the B.C wildfires and floods. Last year, the Animal Food Bank supplied 200,000 meals to pets in need. But struck by the horrors occurring in Ukraine, she said she wanted to do something, even from far away.

” The images keep me crying every day all day about people evacuating with their pets in the subway corridors,” she said, noting pets are often forgotten or the last considered during an emergency situation.

Anyone wanting to purchase a hoodie or T-shirt can do so on their website.
