If all goes well, move to take place in June

Link Church moving to former Dream Centre

MEDICINE HAT — The congregation of the Link Church could soon be on the move into a larger building.

The Link Church is finalizing a deal to move from it’s current location on 3rd Avenue on the southwest hill, into the former Dream Centre building on Saamis Drive North West.

Lead pastor Mike Landry says they recognized the need for expansion in 2014 and purchased some land with a view to constructing a new building.

But the chance to get into the former Dream Centre allowed them to accelerate that plan.

“This opportunity came up and it was much more cost effective to be able to go into an existing building like that rather than build on the vacant land that we have,” explains Landry.

Landry adds “our current site has served us well but there isn’t a lot of room to expand here and we’ve recognized the need for a larger space.”

Landry says it’s tough to nail down a firm time line as to when renovations will be completed, as there are supply issues involved, but it’s hoped the congregation might be able to meet in their new home after the middle of June.

It’s also hoped the current building on 9th street s.w. might also be sold to another group and continue to serve the community as a church.
