City looking to hire more lifeguards

MEDICINE HAT, AB – They were concerns earlier this week about pool wait times, but the City of Medicine Hat says it was just due to Family Day and an influx of people.

However, as restrictions are lifted and warm weather nears, the City is looking to hire more lifeguards.

The pandemic created a bit of a gap in training programs and slowed down the process but it’s ramping up again. Recreation Manager Scott Richter says they’re doing callbacks for summer and are looking to hire 10 more people.

“There’s still some training so we have a couple of courses going on,” Richter said. “There’s a combination of both. Both training and some of the guards that come on and apply are already trained.”

Training program information and job openings can be found on the city’s website.
