Utility relief up for debate by Medicine Hat council

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Options for short term relief from spiking utility rates are up for debate at tonight’s city council meeting in Medicine Hat.

Residents have been vocal recently about huge jumps in their utility bills, with some stating their bills have never been higher and it is a struggle to get by.

Councillor Alison Van Dyke, who chairs the utilities commission, tweeted that council will look at potential short term relief.

Councillors will also take a broader look at rate setting in Medicine Hat but warns it will take longer to properly address.
