MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat College updated their plans for classes moving forward allowing students to return to in-person classes on Jan. 24.

The executive director of advancement and community relations and says that he hopes staff and students will make safe choices outside the campus as well.

“Omicron appears to be quite contagious as we all know from reporting and the information that we have seen so in addition to the campus precautions and policy approaches we have we are really asking people to be as cautious as they can be in their personal lives,” says Mark Keller.

The Medicine Hat College began its winter 2022 semester on Jan. 4 but had to delay orientation until Jan. 7.

For some programs, the first week of classes were cancelled to allow faculty and staff time to make required changes to delivery.

The college is confident that the policies they have in place to reduce the spread such as vaccine proof of vaccination or a rapid test result and the use of masks will help reduce the spread.

The University of Alberta, University of Calgary and University of Lethbridge announced last week that they will extend online learning to the end of February.
