Jan 14, 2022 | 1:23 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Police are calling a rash of crime involving vehicles in Medicine Hat despicable.

Authorities have yet to pinpoint the number of vehicles damaged, but they say there were numerous cases over the course of Sunday night and Monday morning in Crescent Heights and Ross Glen.

And police say the vehicles were damaged not only during the break-ins, but after the act of breaking in, and inside the vehicles.

Items were stolen in some cases, but not in all of them.

“The fact that criminals have gone to lengths to take the extra time and effort to damage vehicles (like this) is a despicable act,” Insp. Joe West with Medicine Hat Police Service told CHAT News.

He added, “we will do what we can to make some arrests on this file.”

Police say they believe all of the cases are connected, and they’ve assigned full time resources to the case in hopes of catching those responsible.

Police also say numerous tips on the case have been made.

Anyone with information in relation to these offences is asked to contact MHPS at 403-529-8481 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Tips can also but submitted online at mhps.ca or mobile app, which is free to download and available for both Apple and Android devices.
