Shots fired during stand-off in northeast neighbourhood
MEDICINE HAT, AB – Shots were fired in a northeast neighbourhood on Saturday during a stand-off between police and a 67-year-old man.
The incident began around 3 p.m. at a home on Northlands Crescent NE. Police responded to the home for a report of a man with handgun who had been in a dispute with a woman inside the home.
Officers were able to assist the woman in getting out of the home safely but over the next few hours, police observed the man inside the home with the gun.
He repeatedly ignored commands that he was under arrest and at one point pointed his gun at police.
