REDCLIFF, AB – Redcliff is taking a new step to reduce its environmental footprint.
The town’s recycling drop off depot is now open.
Located at 702 South Railway Dr. NE, the depot accepts aluminum and tin, plastics, cardboard and paper. The town asks residents to ensure everything is empty, rinsed, flattened, clean, dry and made from one material only.
Municipal manager Phyllis Forsyth says residents are happy to finally have a recycling option.
The project was part of Redcliff’s 2021 budget but due to the development and land use bylaws, it took longer to complete than anticipated.
“Our cost right now is about $90,000 so less than what our budget was,” Forsyth said. “It’s all been turned over to operations now to run it.”
The recycling depot is open 24/7 and doesn’t accept hazardous waste, combustible items or glass.
