WestJet only flying once a day out of Medicine Hat

Jan 6, 2022 | 12:30 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – People wanting to fly out of Medicine Hat don’t have many options, and have no options until next week.

Due to ongoing concerns due in part to the spread of the Omicron virus and subsequent travel advice from government, WestJet has reduced Medicine Hat service to once daily. The first available flight on westjet.com is Monday, Jan. 10.

The company posted an update on Dec. 30, and planned for daily operational updates going forward.

In a further statement, WestJet’s Manager of Media & Public Relations Morgan Bell said the updates would outline the number of cancellations being faced, including the planned consolidation of flights as well as any weather, safety or maintenance-related cancellations.

Medicine Hat flyers have the added concern of any delays or cancellations impacting connections in Calgary and possibly further along their trip.

“We understand any type of delay or interruption can be extremely frustrating and challenging and we always do our best to keep guests informed, and when required re-accommodate them as quickly as possible,” Bell said.
