Too cold: Hidden Valley closed until Friday
ELKWATER, AB – First the weather was too mild for Hidden Valley Ski Resort to open, now it’s the opposite.
Hidden Valley was to open for the season today, but a Facebook post from the resort says it will remain closed due to extreme cold. The temperature in Elkwater at 9 a.m. was -23 C, with the wind chill factor making it feel like -36 C.
The post says full refunds will be issued to everyone who purchased day tickets and the resort hopes to open on Friday. The forecast calls for the temperature to rise to -8 C by Friday morning.
Late last month, a statement from Alberta Environment and Parks said Hidden Valley was focused on making snow and preparing the team for the 2022 season.
