Hatters wait in line for Rapid Test Kit

Dec 20, 2021 | 3:04 PM

Medicine Hat, AB–There were dozens of people waiting outside the Community Health Services Clinic in Medicine Hat Monday hoping to get a free rapid test kit.

People were hoping to be first in line to get a kit after Friday’s roll out of the tests saw the Clinic run out completely within the first hour and fifteen minutes of the kits being made available.

We spoke to several people waiting in line. One person told us “I was here since this morning and then they told us they would be delivered at noon, came back just before noon and still nothing.”

The south zone of Alberta Health Services tweeted out around 11a.m. this morning that delivery of COVID-19 home test kits was expected later today in Medicine Hat and other rural sites.

A spokesman for Alberta Health says they do not have the ability to provide real time reporting on individual sites or communities due to the nature of the program supplying hundreds of locations. “There will be inevitably be some variance in delivery/arrival time at individual pharmacies or other settings.” Deliveries depend on many factors including weather and road conditions.
