MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat College Rattlers women’s volleyball team lost more than a match on Saturday night.

Playing in their temporary court at the Family Leisure Centre, members of the team lost a quantity of electronics and cash when someone entered the team dressing room during the game against Briercrest College.

But it didn’t take long for police to recover the stolen items and cash, thanks to one of the player’s ability to track their stolen airpods electronically, leading officers to a home in Ranchlands.

Acting Staff Sgt. Ernie Fischhofer says it was the break police needed.

“That first residence led us to an arrest and charges and recovery of the airpods along with some of the cash, and then through an interview with that young person we were able to follow through with two others and recovery more cash there,” says Fischhofer.

Police also recovered some practice jerseys.

One of the youths involved was just 10 years of age, too young to be charged, but was released to the custody of his parents.
