Santa Claus making visits to Medicine Hat

MEDICINE HAT, AB – It’s the busy time of year at the North Pole but the big man in the red suit is still making time for kids in our community.

Santa Claus himself was spotted at Kin Coulee Park on Sunday and today.

He parked his sleigh near the park’s main entrance and has met with about a dozen kids so far posing for photos courtesy of A-Rose Photography and hearing about Christmas wishes.

“We want to bring joy to everybody in Medicine Hat,” said Santa. “It’s a great town and I love to be here every year and every child to see their smiles brings me great joy.”

“Their smiles are so big that the Tooth Fairy would be happy to see ‘em and their eyes glow magic. To see me here in Medicine Hat is wonderful.”

He said he’s heard from kids about monster trucks, other vehicles and pet requests but said, “sometimes that’s a thing that parents have to get for them.”

Santa has to go back to his workshop today but will be back on Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Kin Coulee Park with A-Rose Photography.

Photos are $25 or $20 with a non-perishable food donation for Medicine Hat Cares Society.

The Medicine Hat Mall is not holding the same Santa experience as in past years but is offering virtual visits. A post on the mall’s Facebook page says there will be an outdoor Santa experience on Dec. 18 for the kids to see Santa in person from afar.

Santa also plans to visit HomeStay Inn & Suites for breakfast at 9 a.m. on Saturday and take photos with pets at Moose & Squirrel on Second Street downtown on Sunday at noon.

Other planned Santa visits can be found on Facebook.
