Redcliff library sees jump in services

Nov 22, 2021 | 6:53 PM

REDCLIFF, AB – The Redcliff Public Library has seen an increase in their services but not for what you might suspect.

They’ve actually had a 25 per cent decrease in people signing out books over the past year. But e-book usage has soared along with their Wi-Fi, and computer services.

Tracy Laturnus, Redcliff library manager, said a lot of the influx has to do with the province reopening, and people wanting to get back to work and travel.

“It’s helping people with their resumes, helping them with services on their phone. We have certain people who can’t access stuff on their phones, so all the different devices out there. It’s all the COVID information that is out there, the QR Codes, and now that passport offices are open again people need help with completing those forms,” she said.

The library is still open for people to check out books. Curbside and delivery options are still available for people who do not feel comfortable going inside.

The library is also hosting a book sale starting this Wednesday to Saturday.

Those interested are asked to call the library at 403-548-3335 to book a browsing appointment.
