Purse For a Sister Bag for a Mister returns for fourth year

MEDICINE HAT, AB– The Medicine Hat Sunrise Rotary Club is hoping to uplift the spirits of hundreds of residents in our city, just in time for Christmas.

Purse For a Sister, Bag for a Mister returns, and the Rotary club aims to collect 300 bags for people in need. The initiative runs towards the end of November, and the goal is tofill purses or bags with items that may help someone who has fled a violent situation and has nothing.

Toiletries, chap sick, bubble bath, and warm winter essentials are some items suggested. In the past Gift cards, and journals have also been placed inside.

Sharla Butler with the Medicine Hat Rotary Club said the ultimate goal is to help create a bag of hope.

“It doesn’t take much to get someone’s hopes lifted. I know that in the past people have even left little handwritten inspirational notes in the purses and the bags, and it really has been a benefit,” said Butler

Bags can be dropped off at Excel Physical Therapy on South Railway and the Medicine Hat Public Library until November 26.

The collected bags will be distributed to the Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter and The Mustard Seed before Christmas.
