MEDICINE HAT, AB – A small portion of interest in the state of pandemic measures came recently from the South Zone region, which includes Medicine Hat and Cypress County.

A statement provided to CHAT News by Alberta Health Services said there were 1711 complaints or service requests to AHS during the week of Sept. 20 to Sept. 28.

But in the South Zone, there were only 46 such requests.

“This includes requests related to compliance with current public health measures, masking, capacity and gathering limits, compliance with the Restrictions Exemption Program etc., as well as concerns about people that are not following isolation requirements,” a statement from Alberta Health Service’s Kelly Morris said.

CHAT News also asked AHS if the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital has been transferring patients to other hospitals because of capacity challenges.

“AHS continues to transfer patients between facilities, and zones, as needed to ensure they get the care they need,” AHS replied.

During a news conference this week, Premier Jason Kenney noted patients from Alberta’s North Zone had to be transferred out-of-zone recently.
