Your ballot box choices in Redcliff and Cypress County

REDCLIFF, AB – With nominations closed and the lists official, residents in Redcliff and Cypress County now know who they can vote for in the Oct. 18 municipal election

There are four people running for mayor in Redcliff. Current mayor Dwight Kilpatrick is being challenged by former mayor Ernie Reimer, current councillor Shawna Gale and newcomer Mark Payne.

Kilpatrick unseated Reimer as mayor in the 2017 election.

Eight people are running for six councillor seats.

Cathy Crozier, Chris Czember, Larry Liepert and Jim J. Steinke are running for re-election. James Allen, Shawn Proulx, William Ranger and Matthew St. Pierre are also running for councillor.

Cypress County

Three people have been acclaimed in Cypress County.

Incumbents Michelle McKenzie in Ward 1, Shane Hok in Ward 8 and Alf Belyea in Ward 9 were the only people to put their names forward their wards.

There will be elections in the other six wards.

Ward 2: Blaine Brost, Matthew Cole, Dustin Jones

Ward 3: Ernest Mudie*, Lloyd Want

Ward 4: Robin Kurpjuweit*, Garry Lentz

Ward 5: Della Burkitt, Dan Hamilton*

Ward 6: Travis Tubman, Dustin Vossler*

Ward 7: Richard Oster*, Garry Procter

* denotes incumbent
