Doctor: COVID strain on health care may cause more change in Medicine Hat
More changes to health care in Medicine Hat brought on by COVID-19 may be just around the corner.
Dr. Paul Parks, an emergency room physician in Medicine Hat, says strain on health-care resources may mean patients who are normally shipped to Calgary for health care, such as a heart attack patient, may have to remain in Medicine Hat.
The same change could impact smaller centres, like Oyen, which at times transport patients to Medicine Hat.
“We’re seeing levels of concern in the emergency (care) community because we’re seeing that potential that the whole system could be overwhelmed,” Parks said.
