Without a formal policy, City of Medicine Hat will follow artists’ wishes regarding COVID protocols at venues

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The City of Medicine Hat will follow the wishes of artists when it comes to COVID protocols, which means anyone wanting to attend the City and Colour concert here in November will need to prove they’ve been vaccinated, or provide a negative test result.

The process to meet the requirement has not been determined, but the city says it will be done in accordance with all applicable health orders and privacy laws.

Those not wishing to comply with the mandate can get refunds up to Friday, Sept. 3.

The city has not developed a formal policy but will work with artists on a case-by-case basis.

“We want to be respectful of the measures being put in place by any entertainer,” said Trampas Brown, Manager of Guest Experience and Operations.

“They want to protect themselves and their crew, but most importantly, they want to be able to protect their fans.”

“We are seeing these types of requests more and more, especially as artists begin to rebook shows,” Brown added.

“These protocols are becoming commonplace, from small venues to major festivals, and should be expected to continue for some time. We’ll continue to work with these groups in order to sustain entertainment opportunities for our community.”
