45 new cases in city, 550 in province

Province over 4,000 active COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and positivity rate up

There are 361 active cases of COVID-19 in Medicine Hat on Thursday.

Medicine Hat has had 1,686 total cases – the 361 active, 1,303 recovered and there have been 22 deaths.

There are 45 new cases in the city in the past 24 hours and six new recoveries.

One week ago Medicine Hat had 142 active cases.

An AHS spokesperson told CHAT News on Thursday there are 12 COVID-19 patients at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, with three of those in the ICU.

Medicine Hat has 530 cases active cases per 100,000 people, the third-highest rate in Alberta. Cypress County has the second-highest rate at 557.6.

61.5 per cent of Hatters have received at least one dose of vaccine at the latest update. 55.2 per cent of Hatters are fully vaccinated.

There are 4,101 active cases in the province, up 332 from Wednesday, and 231,707 recovered cases in the province, up 218.

Alberta’s total cases from the start of the pandemic is 237,357.

There are 550 new cases in the province today, and 336 more variant of concern cases have been identified.

There are now 146 Albertans in hospital with COVID-19, 36 of which are in ICU, and 2,331 deaths.

The province completed 8,585 tests in the past 24 hours.

The positivity rate is about 6.4 per cent.

Alberta has administered 5,415,497 doses of vaccine at the latest update.

Province-wide, 76.6 per cent of Albertans 12 years old and up have received at least one dose of vaccine and 67.4 per cent are fully vaccinated.

Among Albertans of all ages, 65.2 per cent have received at least one dose of vaccine and 57.3 per cent are fully vaccinated.

There are 582 active cases and 12,534 recovered in the South Zone. The death total in the zone is at 138.

The province-wide reproductive value for the week of Aug. 2-8 is 1.25. It is 1.09 in Calgary Zone, 1.41 in Edmonton Zone and 1.41 in the rest of Alberta.

It’s updated every two weeks. At the last update from July 19-25 the numbers were 1.48 province-wide, 1.50 in Calgary Zone, 1.37 in Edmonton Zone and 1.48 in the rest of Alberta.

Cypress County has totaled 376 cases. There are 63 active cases, 312 recovered and one death. The latest one-dose vaccination rate for all ages is 52.4 per cent, the two-dose rate is 45.6.

The County of Forty Mile has 159 total cases. There are two active cases, 154 recovered and there have been three deaths. The latest one-dose vaccination rate for all ages is 30.8 per cent, the two-dose rate is 27.2.

The MD of Taber has 580 total cases — five active cases, 569 recovered and there have been six deaths. The latest one-dose vaccination rate for all ages is 37.8 per cent, the two-dose rate is 33.5.

Special Areas No. 2 has 110 total cases – four active cases, 105 recovered and there has been one death.

Brooks has 1,542 total cases — 11 active cases and 1,516 are recovered. Brooks has recorded 15 deaths.

The County of Newell has a total of 257 cases — seven active cases, 247 recovered and there have been three deaths. The latest one-dose vaccination rate for all ages is 51.5 per cent, the two-dose rate is 44.3. The Newell numbers include the city of Brooks.

The County of Warner has 471 total cases. There are two active cases, 466 are recovered cases and there have been three deaths in the county. The latest one-dose vaccination rate for all ages is 47.1 per cent, the two-dose rate is 41.1.

The City of Lethbridge has a total of 4,951 cases. There are 86 active cases, 4,825 recovered and there have been 40 deaths. Lethbridge County has 1,279 cases, 10 active cases, 1,255 recovered and there have been 14 deaths.

Not all the areas on the vaccination data map match the case count map.

The figures on alberta.ca are “up-to-date as of end of day Aug. 11, 2021.”

Saskatchewan has a total of 50,912 cases, 793 considered active. There are 49,533 recovered cases and there have been 586 COVID-19 deaths in the province.
